Minecraft PS4 Fails Certification as August Creeps to The Close

It's likely that Minecraft will meets its August release date on PS4 after it failed the Sony certification tests. It's now back to the fixing board at 4J Studios. The team will need to submit the game again for certification before it is released.

4J has been busy resolving bugs and issues throughout the month, and not just in the PS4 version, but in the upcoming Xbox One and Vita releases too. We've reached out to the studio to confirm that there is a delay, and whether that'll be limited to the PS4 version or other platforms as well. All three versions are due to be released this month.

Sony discovered some issues in the final test of #MinecraftPS4.  https://skinnight.com/ We are currently working on fixing them, but we still need to go through the entire process over again.

- 4J Studios (@4JStudios), August 20 2014. When they launch, the Xbox One or PS4 versions of Mojang’s popular game will be available for $20 on digital storefronts. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners can upgrade to Xbox One or PS4 for $5. The offer will be available for up to one year from the release date. The new consoles will provide bigger worlds and greater draw distance than previous console releases.

For the Vita version it's cross-buy with PS3 which means that those who purchased Minecraft on the console will get the handheld version for free, while new buyers can unlock the game on both PS3 and Vita. Like the other ports, the asking price for grinding your pickaxe on Vita is $20.
